Family Fun doesn't have to be expensive!
Well, we just got back from a National League Baseball Game. Total spent: $26.28. The tickets we got free by buying gas at a local gas station, for every fill up you get a stamp. 6 stamps got you a free ticket. I collected 4 free tickets, mailed in the forms and $5.00 for the processing fee. (First $5.00 spent). So, we get out there and there is parking for $8.00. (Total now $13.00). We enjoy the game, let the kids play at the free playland, etc. Then the kids get hungry. I packed and brought in snacks, but the kids wanted a treat. Prices were high, but after much looking around, I found "kids game packs". Includes hot dog, soda, peanuts and cookies for $4.00. Bought 2 of those (Total now $21.00). And finally, I looked for a T shirt prior to going to the game and Walmarts was $13.00, which is too expensive. At the game, I went looking in the gift shops, and found the gift shop on the top floor had 3 clearance racks. I found the cutest shirt with my baseball team on it for $5.00 ( $5.28 with tax) YEAH! So, my total for spending is $26.28 for a family night out. I didn't count the gas, because we used my husband's donation card to pay for that.

Quick Run To Walgreens
We are low on things around here...I haven't gone on a BIG shopping trip, so I thought I would pick up some snacks for the kids.
I bought:
box of Nemo Crackers
small box of Oreos ( on sale)
bag of gummy worms ( on sale, the oreos and gummy worms are for "dirt treat" tonight for dessert)
4 Scotch Mailers ( on sale 39 cents, bought 4 which is $1.56, used 3 .50 cents off coupons, so the 4 of them were .06 cents)
6 Candy Bars (on sale for 49 cents each, coupon in sunday's paper was $1.00 off of 2, making all 6 free)
Total after coupons was $4.30, used my $3.00 RR from last trip, paid $1.30 OOP. I still need to do a big shopping trip, but at least they have a few snacks between meals. My menu plan is almost out. We have speghetti and some chicken and turkey left. I hop to go shopping next week. We can make this stretch one more week. :)

Frugal Notes for this week...
Well, a few frugal things happened this week.
First of all, we got our first batch of green beans from the garden. They filled one colander full and another half of one. We have had green beans for dinner 3 days this week. We paid 29 cents for the seeds. :) We also got about 6 beautiful onions out of the garden too! If you can have a garden, it's worth it! We will have tons of onions this summer, we bought a bag of onion bulbs on sale for 99 cents.
Second, we had our rummage sale today, despite the rain and clouds, we had a great sale! We are having it again tomorrow. So, it's as good as today, we will be thrilled!!! I sold a few things from stockpile, but that is fine, my shelves are still fully loaded with items.
Third, Ran to Sentry today. I got package of Underjams (On sale), 8 containers of ice cream ( had the BOGO coupons from Sunday Paper), 4 cans of dog food (Free Coupons from Sunday Paper), package of Diagorno Flat Melt Sandwich (From Freebie offered a while ago), and 2 bottles of Old Orchard Juice ( Free coupons aquired coupon from a coupon trade). Total before coupons: $29.78 before coupons, $9.78 after coupons.
Forth, I found some great tearpad coupons from the Kwik Trip Gas Station when I went and bought 69 cents eggs! I bought 3 dozen and left with about 6 tear pad coupons. I will save those for my trip to Logli's.
Fifth, I talked to the newspaper writer and the article in the WISCONSIN STATE JOURNAL will be published on Aug. 9th. I will keep everyone posted.
Sixth, we counted all our coke points collected from the Relay for Life walk my kids did. It was enough to get another coupon for our Six Flags Trip!! YEAH!!
So, that is the frugal notes for this week. I have been busy working and happy to report that I got my car back. The car guy was nice enough not to charge us the second time around! He said he was happy to just find what was wrong with it and not have to buy any parts for it! I was thrilled! WOO HOO!

* Plastic school boxes 49 cents
* Crayola Colored pencils 99 cents

Also Pilot G2 Pens are Free after RR. Some of the 9 cents items you may want to stockpile.
Shopko ( starts July 23rd. they also have a $10 off coupon if you spend $50 on their home mailer. That may help you if you plan on buying alot and need alot of supplies)
* 10 cents notebooks and folders ( solid colors, Limit 18 of each)
* 20 cents 24 pack crayons (Limit 4)
* 20 cents glue (Limit 4)
* 50 cents school box (Limit 4)
* 50 cents composition book (Limit 6)
* 50 cents 150 count filler paper (Limit 6)
* 99 cents Crayola Markers (thin and thick) (Limit 2)
* 99 cents Crayola Water Color ( Maybe not needed for school, but great for home learning! Limit 2)
* 99 cents kids scissors
* 99 cents Crayola Colored Pencils (Limit 2)
I have finished my school shopping for fall. I had everything needed in my stockpile. So, now, I will pick up the loss leader sales or wait until after school starts clearance sales to pick up more glue, folders, etc to use for future years. My child's school gives you a list so you can see what is on each grades supply list (My list has 3rd, 4th and 5th) so I can get an idea of my kids upcoming needs. By doing this, I save money with all the sales.
Another tip, don't buy the "theme" notebooks and folders. Those cost WAY more then regular folders! Instead, if you child insists on having those, find stickers she/he may already have and decorate the folder themselves.
When you buy these items, not only think about what the school supply list says, but think about the rest of the school year. Does your child use up crayons quickly? Maybe buy an extra box, so you don't have to overpay mid year. You may also want to consider your kids other events. Do they need supplies for their scout troop? Do you do crafts as a family and the watercolors or markers be an added supply? You may not need the water colors or colored pencils right away, but they don't "go bad" and you can stockpile those items the same way you stockpile canned goods.
Also, I don't buy "back to school" clothes. I think that is a big waste of money. You can use the clothes your kids have or maybe pick up so clothes back in spring on the clearance racks to plan for back to school. The "back to school" clothes sales are never that good and cost the families more than it's worth. Save your money and figure out what your child has that they can already wear.
Now, back to summer fun!!!
Stay Frugal!!

Catching up and Murphy moving in....
It's the 18th of July....I am really behind! I haven't worked on my coupon binder in 2 weeks! (One week was family trip and the other week was my trip for professional development!) So, I am really behind. So, I am hoping this week I can catch up!
And then Murphy moved in! (Have you ever heard that before?). Murphy is the "thing" that moves in to makes choas! First, I spent some money on my trip (ON the credit card) I figured no big deal, we have been keeping up with our expenses and I wanted to get everyone a souvenir. HAHAHA! Come back from my trip to find my car engine light goes on. I have $400 in repairs; just to have the engine light go on again last night!!! So, I have to wait until Monday to get it looked at again!
Then I find out in order to qualify for a mentorship program I am trying to get involved with, I had to pay $375 for the national test which I had in applied for but had waited on processing. So, I paid for that. So, now souvenirs, car repairs, national test, and baggage fees. I had $40 in charges to ship my bags on the airplane. So, add that $40.00...that brings me up to $1,000 in credit card charges. UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am soo mad!! That is in less than 3 weeks!! Thankfully, I have the money in my emergency fund and we can use that money, so no interest will grown in the credit card, but UGH!!! I blame myself completely for the souvenirs. But the car problems and the testing expenses were unplanned.
I am glad I keep notes here. Someday I can look back on this and say,"YEAH! glad that is over!!".

Shoes!!!
Well, I needed shoes for a dress I will be wearing to a wedding this weekend. I stopped at every store around my job, every store around my hometown and NOTHING!
Finally, My husband had to go into the city. I went with him, knowing in a last ditch effort I could stop at the mall. Expecting to pay full price there, I found a shoe store that had 50% off the already reduced shoes!! I got 2 pairs of shoes for the dress. One pair was $6.50 and one pair was $8.50!! WOO HOO!!
Also, I got a $10 gift certificate for VS for my birthday. SO, I went over there and I bought 8 items and paid $3.38 out of pocket!! WOO HOO!!
So, I had a fun "shopping" day. Which is rare for me!

Back from an awesome vacation!!
We got home yesterday from our camping vacation. I know what you are thinking! How can they afford to vacation when they aren't working? While it's true my husband and I aren't working, we went on vacation and spent only $75.00 OOP and gas money was spent from my husband's plasma donation card. We went to Wisconsin Dells. If you have never been there, you should try to go. It's beautiful and there is something for everyone. The rock fomations are fantastic! The natural beauty is awesome. And of course there are the water parks, the shows, the museums, etc. Admission is very expensive, but again, we brought with us $75.00 cash and came home with $6.00 left. We ate packed lunches, no eating in the resturants. We bought only a few souvenirs ( a pencil for each of the kids and a few smushed pennise for their collection), mostly I took over 500 photos and my daughter and I are working on that scrap book. I have the brouchures and flyers which I will use for parts of the scrap book. We stayed at my parents land, so no nightly fees. It was great! WE had a super time and will remember it for a long time!!
So, Now I am a home for a few days, then I head off for Washington DC!
